CITY OF RIVE,_.~IDE Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Council Date of Meeting: November 9, 1993 Time of Meeting: 9 A.M. Place of Meeting= Council Chamber, City Hall Roll Call: The Invocation was given by Marjorie von Pohle from the audi- ence. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meeting of October 26, 1993, were approved as presented. The Chair recognized the presence in the audience of Steve Reeves representing the Greater Riverside Chambers of Com- merce, Gary Cordrey representing the University-Canyon Crest Chamber of Commerce, Dickey DeLoss representing the Magnolia Center Chamber of Commerce and Morris Landers representing the La Sierra Chamber of Commerce. The Mayor also recognized the presence of Sue Miller from Con- gressman Ken Calvert's office. Councilmember Loveridge entered at this time. PRESENTATIONS Mayor Frizzel presented a new Police Department badge to Po- lice Chief Fortier and accepted the retirement of his old badge. The Police Department is retiring its old badges and the badge numbers of officers killed in the line of duty, and officers will begin wearing the new badges. The Mayor read a Proclamation proclaiming November 13 as Cali- fornia Citizenship Day in the City of Riverside. The Mayor presented a Proclamation to the Riverside Optimists proclaiming the week of November 8-12 as Riverside Optimists for Youth Appreciation Week--Outstanding Youth. Representa- tives of the Riverside Optimists introduced outstanding stu- dents. Mayor Frizzel presented a Proclamation to Sandy Morse, Direc- tor of Community and Professional Education, Community Hospice Care, Inc., declaring November as National Hospice Month. The Mayor called upon Councilmember Defenbaugh who presented a plaque to the City of Riverside from the Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center in appreciation for its years of support.
