CITY OF RIVE~IDE <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />Date of Meeting: August 24, 1993 <br />Time of Meeting: 2 P.M. <br />Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Mayor Frizzel called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m. <br /> <br />RECESS FOR PARKING AUTHORITY, INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />The City Council recessed for the purpose of sitting as the <br />Parking Authority, the Industrial Development Authority and <br />the Economic Development Authority. <br /> <br />There being no business to be conducted, the meetings were <br />adjourned; and the body reconvened as the City Council of the <br />City of Riverside. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL AT 3 P.M. <br /> <br />FURTHER HEARING - ZONING CASE RZ-014-923 - 5800 CENTRAL - <br />PEAL - CONTINUED <br />3 P.M.--Further hearing was called on the appeal of Stephen J. <br />Whyld, Planning Director, City of Riverside Planning Depart- <br />ment, from the decision of the City Planning Commission in <br />failing to approve their request to place approximately 1.06 <br />vacant acres of land at 5800 Central Avenue, situated on the <br />south side of Central Avenue westerly of Hillside Avenue, in a <br />zone deemed more appropriate and remove the same from Zone YS, <br />Zoning Case RZ-014-923. This case was continued from June 8, <br />1993, when it was referred to the City Council Utility Servic- <br />es/Land Use/Energy Development Committee; and further contin- <br />ued from August 10, 1993, at the recommendation from the Com- <br />mittee. In consideration of the request from the Land Use <br />Committee, this hearing was further continued to September 14, <br />1993, at 2 p.m. <br /> <br />FURTHER HEARING - ZONING CASE CU-031-923 - 7889 MISSION GROVE <br />PKWY. SOUTH - APPEAL GRANTED - CUP APPROVED - RESOL. ADOPTED <br />3 P.M.--Further hearing was called on the appeal of Joan Jones <br />from the decision of the City Planning Commission in denying <br />her request for a conditional use permit to establish an ap- <br />proximately 6,625-square-foot private school within a partial- <br />ly completed industrial complex on approximately 7.3 acres of <br />land at 7889 Mission Grove Parkway South, situated at the <br />northwest corner of Trautwein Road and Mission Grove Parkway <br />South, in Zone MP, Zoning Case CU-031-923. In conjunction <br />with conditional use permit hearings, the City Council is au- <br />thorized to grant variances to the Zoning Ordinance as deemed <br />appropriate. This hearing was continued from July 13 and 27, <br />1993, at the request of the applicant. As heretofore directed <br />by the City Council, the minutes of the City Planning Commis- <br />sion pertaining to this case are on file and are a part of the <br />evidence submitted at this hearing whether or not any portion <br />thereof is read or discussed. The communication from the Com- <br />mission advised that the Commission, by a vote of 8 ayes to <br />0 noes, denied the requested conditional use permit.
