Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall Roll Call: The Invocation was given by Councilmember Thompson. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meeting of June 4, 1996, were approved as presented. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Con- sent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item. PLANNING COMMISSION ZONING CASE VR-082-956 - 5982 VIA LOMA The City Council upheld the action of the Planning Commission in approving subject to conditions the request of Christian Bergum for the following minor variance to construct a two- story single-family residence at 5982 Via Loma, situated on the east side of Via Loma north of Ransom Road, in Zone RC: to allow a two-story single-family dwelling with a maximum overall height of approximately 25 feet where a maximum one- story 20-foot-high dwelling is permitted; upheld the Commis- sion's determination that the proposal would not have a significant effect on the environment; and concurred in the adoption of a Negative Declaration. CITY MANAGER BID 5382 - INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS BROCKTON & TEQUESQUITE The City Council (1) awarded Bid 5382 to J.E.G. Construction Company, Inc., in the amount of $74,000, for intersection im- provements at Brockton and Tequesquite Avenues; and (2) autho- rized the City Manager or his designee to execute the con- tract. BID 5396 REJECTION - SWIMMING POOL PLASTER & TILE REPLACEMENT The City Council (1) rejected all bids received for Bid 5396 relative to the replacement of plaster and tile at the Reid Park and Villegas Park swimming pools; and (2) authorized staff to prepare the bid documents and rebid the project. ARLINGTON AVENUE UNDERPASS PROJECT The City Council (1) awarded a contract for appraisal services for the Arlington Avenue Underpass Project between McMahon Street and Indiana Avenue to Gary L. Vogt and Associates, at a cost not to exceed $35,000; (2) authorized the Purchasing Ser- vices Manager to proceed by purchase order for these services; and (3) authorized the City Manager or his designee to execute the Agreement.
