CITY OF RIVE JIDE Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Council Date of Meeting: May 21, 1996 Time of Meeting: 9 A.M. Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall Roll Call: The Invocation was given by Councilmember Moore. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meetings of May 13 and 14, 1996, were ap- proved as presented. PRESENTATIONS Mayor Loveridge called upon Judith Griffith, Human Resources Director, who reported on the 1996 Youth Expo 2000 Job Fair and Conference and recognized the Youth Expo 2000 Career Con- ference Committee for their seven years of outstanding sup- port. Mayor Loveridge presented Rich Biber, recipient of this year's City Spirit Award, with a Plaque of Appreciation. Mr. Biber was presented this award in tribute to his extraordinary deeds and community spirit, demonstration of good citizenship and dedication to enhancing the quality of life in the City of Riverside. Mayor Loveridge introduced Jennifer Blakely, Assistant to City Manager, Office of Neighborhoods and Community Services, who spoke briefly on the World Changers program and introduced Rob Cain, coordinator for this program which will bring approxi- mately 200 young people to Riverside from July 6 through 13, 1996. These young people will spend a week in Riverside work- ing on the rehabilitation of 25 homes including replacing roofs, painting exteriors and interior work. Mayor Loveridge introduced North High School teacher, Keith James, whose class was in the audience to observe a portion of the City Council meeting. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Con- sent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item. CITY MANAGER BID 5375 - STEWART INTAKE STEEL TANK WATER RESERVOIR The City Council (1) awarded Bid 5375 to DenBoer Engineering and Construction, in the amount of $269,000, for construction of a 300,000 gallon steel tank reservoir for the Stewart In- take Reservoir; and (2) authorized preparation of the appro- priate contract documents to be executed by the City Manager or his designee.
