CITY OF RIV~ 3IDE <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />Date of Meeting: February 13, 1996 <br />Time of Meeting: 9 A.M. <br />Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Mayor Loveridge called the City Council meeting to order at <br />9:05 a.m., following completion of the City Council's Ad- <br />journed Regular Meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Loveridge announced that Councilmember Defenbaugh was in <br />Washington, D.C., attending March Air Force Base Joint Powers <br />Authority meetings. <br /> <br />The Invocation was given by Councilmember Moore. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />The Minutes of the Meeting of February 6, 1996, were approved <br />as presented. <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />Mayor Loveridge called upon Bob Gillette, President of the <br />California Water Environment Association, who presented 1995 <br />awards to the following City employees: Gail McPherson for <br />Plant of the Year and Research Achievement for the Hidden Val- <br />ley Wetlands Enhancement Project; Elise Macinka for Safety; <br />Paul Shaffer for Public Education; Walter Faickney for Mainte- <br />nance Person of the Year; and Anicia Yambot for Laboratory <br />Person of the Year. <br /> <br />Mayor Loveridge called upon Gail McPherson who presented an <br />award from the Local Government Commission to Paul Shaffer for <br />organizing the City's Pollution Prevention display at the Riv- <br />erside Plaza. <br /> <br />Steve Gibson and Eddie Gent of the Riverside Downtown Associa- <br />tion presented awards to Police Chief Ken Fortier; Bob Wales, <br />Assistant City Manager; Gae Galvan, Development Department; <br />and Dave Rogers, Park and Recreation Department, in recogni- <br />tion of their assistance with Downtown projects. <br /> <br />CELEBRATING RIVERSIDE <br />Councilmember Kane, Ward 4, presented City pins and a Certifi- <br />cate of Appreciation to Kathryn and Tom Safford in recognition <br />of their distinguished service on City boards and commissions. <br /> <br />CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />RESOLUTION <br />The City Clerk reported on the canvass of returns and the all <br />mail ballot process for the Seventh Ward run-off Special Mu- <br />nicipal Election of January 9, 1996.
