CITY OF RIVk ~IDE Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Council Date of Meeting: January 2, 1996 Time of Meeting: 9 A.M. Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall Roll Call: The Invocation was given by Councilmember Moore. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meetings of December 19 and 26, 1995, were approved as presented. Police Chief Fortier gave a brief oral report on the condition of Officer Sciortino, shot while on duty Saturday, Decem- ber 30, 1995. A motion was made authorizing a Proclamation, signed by the entire City Council, be sent to Officer Scior- tino in recognition of his service to the City along with wishes for a speedy recovery. The Police Chief also gave a brief overview relative to discharging of firearms on New Year's Eve. PRESENTATIONS Mayor Loveridge presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Council- member Thompson for her dedicated service as Mayor Pro Tempore from July 1 through December 31, 1995. The City Council appointed Councilmember Pearson as Mayor Pro Tempore for the period January 1 through June 30, 1996. CELEBRATING RIVERSIDE Councilmember Pearson's recognition of Cary Sena for her devo- tion to improving the Arlanza/La Sierra area was continued until January 9, 1996. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Con- sent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item; with Council- members Beaty and Defenbaugh requesting their vote be shown as "No" on the adoption of Resolution No. 18836, Case SP-003-945, Alessandro Heights (Mission Grove) Specific Plan.
