CITY OF RIVi 3IDE Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Council Date of Meeting: August 27, 1996 Time of Meeting: 9 A.M. Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall Roll Call: Mayor Loveridge called the City Council meeting 'to order at 9:30 a.m. following the Redevelopment Agency Meeting. The Invocation was given by Councilmember Moore. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meeting of August 13, 1996, were approved as presented. OATH OF OFFICE - CITY CLERK Mayor Loveridge administered the Oath of Office to newly ap- pointed City Clerk, Colleen J. Nicol. STAFF INTRODUCTION Mayor Loveridge called on the City Attorney who introduced Legal Assistants Sandra Gerdeman and Sonya Baca Chavarria. PRESENTATIONS Mayor Loveridge recognized the City's Planning Department for receiving awards from the Inland Empire Section of the Ameri- can Planning Association in the following categories: Plan- ning Implementation Award for Wireless Communications Ordi- nance; Innovative Use of Technology Award for GIS Program; and Focused Issue Planning Award for Downtown Design Guidelines. Mayor Loveridge called on Terry Nielsen, Park and Recreation Director; Gerald Hurley, Recreation Supervisor; and Anthony Allega, Aquatics Coordinator, who presented members of their Aquatics Section with awards for Rookie Lifeguard (Don Allen Memorial Award), Veteran Lifeguard, Outstanding Assistant Pool Manager and Outstanding Pool Manager. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Con- sent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item; with Council- member Clifford requesting his vote be shown as "No" on the item regarding the change order with Donahue & Company to in- crease property appraisal fees.
