The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. Mayor Loveridge indicated Councilmember Moore is reading to the students at Emerson Elementary School as part of Riverside Reads Day and Councilmember Thompson is absent due to illness. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meetings of February 18 and 23, 1999, were approved as pre- sented. PRESENTATIONS Councilmember Kane presented a Proclamation to Donna Baker, President, Junior League of Riverside, proclaiming the week of March 6-12, 1999, as Junior League of Riverside Appreciation Week. Mayor Loveridge called on Dieter Wirtzfeld and Jeff McLaughlin, City Campaign Coordinators, who assisted in presenting the United Way awards to City depart- ments. Mayor Loveridge presented a Proclamation to Leigh Hawkinson, President, A!vord Educators Association, and Dennis Hodges, President, Riverside City Teachers Association, proclaiming Tuesday, March 2, 1999, as Riverside Reads Day in support of the National Read Across America Campaign. STAFF INTRODUCTIONS Mayor Loveridge called on City Attorney Yamamoto to introduce new staff members Deputy City Attorney Juanda Lowder Daniel, Legal Assistant Vicki Baucom, and Typist Clerk II's Elena Risner and Lorinda Lind. Mayor L0veridge recognized the presence in the audience of students from Noah High School who were introduced by Keith James. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item.
