The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meetings of February 9, 1999, were approved as presented. PRESENTATIONS Mayor Loveridge called on Corona Fire Chief Michael Warren who made a presentation to Fire Chief Dave Carlson in appreciation of the City's support during their difficult time with the recent loss of four firefighters. Mayor Loveridge presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Police Detective Guy Portillo, Public Safety Officer for the month of February 1999, who was honored by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce at Good Morning Riverside. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item. CITY MANAGER BID 5622 - WASHINGTON & VICTORIA IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT The City Council (1) awarded Bid 5622 to Vance Corporation in the amount of $175,539.50 for Washington Street and Victoria Avenue intersection improve-ments; and (2) authorized the preparation of appropriate contract documents for execution by the City Manager or his designee. FAA/CALTRANS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT GRANT - FUNDS TRANSFER The City Council authorized (1) staff to prepare the necessary grant applications to both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) Aeronautics Division to fund the repair and replace- ment of selected portions of asphalt on the taxiways and tarmac at the Riverside Municipal Airport; (2) the City Manager or his designee to sign both applications and concurrent paperwork to initiate the grant requests; and (3) the approval and transfer of $5,500 from Account 101-129800-440301-12072 to the associated project expenditure account to be used as the City' s matching funds for this project.
