SIGNATURES IN LIEU OF FILING FEE (E.C. § 8106) First day forms will be available from the City Clerk. In lieu of paying the filing fee with money, a candidate may submit a petition containing signatures of registered voters within the City and Ward (if applicable) in which he or she Jan. 1 Candidates / seeks office. Four signatures are required for each dollar of filing fee. (158) City Clerk Within 10 days after receipt of a petition, the City Clerk shall notify the candidate of any deficiency. The candidate shall then, prior to the close of the nomination period, either submit a supplemental petition or pay a pro rata portion of the filing fee to cover the deficiency. PUBLISH NOTICE OF ELECTION (E.C. § 12101; G.C. §§ 6060, 6061) Feb. 1 Publish Notice of Election one time between these dates.
