In lieu of paying the filing <br />fee with money, a candidate may submit a petition containing signatures of <br />registered voters within the City and Ward (if applicable) in which he or she <br />Jan. 1 Candidates / <br />seeks office. Four signatures are required for each dollar of filing fee. <br />(158) City Clerk <br /> <br />Within 10 days after receipt of a petition, the City Clerk shall notify the <br />candidate of any deficiency. The candidate shall then, prior to the close of the <br />nomination period, either submit a supplemental petition or pay a pro rata <br />portion of the filing fee to cover the deficiency. <br /> <br />Registrar of <br />Jan. 18 <br /> <br />Voters <br />The Registrar of Voters office will be closed. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION CALLING ELECTION (E.C. §§ 330, 10002, 10403.5, <br />13307) <br /> <br />Jan. 29 By this suggested date adopt resolutions regarding the following: <br />City Council <br />(130) Ordering election including incumbents and offices to be filled. <br /> Requesting Registrar of Voters to conduct election. <br /> Regulations whether candidates or city will pay for candidate <br />statements. <br />ESTABLISH CITY AND WARD BOUNDARIES (CITY CHARTER § 402; E.C. § <br />Jan. 29 12262) <br />City Council <br />(130) <br />Suggested last day boundary changes may be made for this election. <br />PUBLISH NOTICE OF ELECTION (E.C. § 12101; G.C. §§ 6060, 6061) <br /> <br />Feb. 1 Publish Notice of Election one time between these dates. The notice will <br />Feb. 15 City Clerk include date and time of election, nomination deadline, the offices to be filled, <br />(127-113) and hours the polls will be open. The Notice is to be published in a newspaper <br />of general circulation published in the City. Federal law requires publication to <br />be made in English and Spanish. <br /> <br />
