The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meetings of June 9, 1998, were approved as presented. Motion X Second X All Ayes Mayor Loveridge announced that Councilmember Thompson is recuperating from surgery. PRESENTATION Mayor Loveridge presented a Certificate of Appreciation honoring Police Detective Robert Shelton, Public Safety Officer for the month of June 1998, who was honored by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce at Good Morning Riverside. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for Motion X consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each Second X item. All Ayes CITY MANAGER BID 5577 - T-SHIRTS FOR PARK AND RECREATION PROGRAMS The City Council (1) awarded Bid 5577 to Teezers, in the amount of $31,536.49, for t- shirts for Park and Recreation Programs for the period July 1, 1998, through June 30, 1999, subject to approval of the Fiscal Year 1998-99 Budget; and (2) authorized the Purchasing Services Manager to proceed by purchase order for this requirement. BID 5580 - TIRES AND TUBES The City Council (1) rejected the bid from Daniels Tire for Section I as being non- responsive to City specifications; and (2) awarded Bid 5580 to Scher Tire for Sections I and II, and Viking Auto Center, Inc., for Section III, by purchase orders, for the annual requirement for tires and tubes for City vehicles for the period July 1, 1998, through June 30, 1999, subject to approval of the Fiscal Year 1998-99 Budget, as being in the best interest of the City. RETENTION OF LABOR RELATIONS ATTORNEY The City Council (1) authorized the retention of the law firm of Miller, Brown and Dannis for labor relations and contract negotiations for the period July 1, 1998, through June 30, 2000, as outlined in the written staff report; and (2) approved the contract attached to the written staff report and authorized the City Manager or his designee to execute the necessary documents. 83-347
