The Invocation was given by Councilmember Defenbaugh. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meeting of March 3, 1998, were approved as presented. Motion X Second X All Ayes PRESENTATIONS Mayor Loveridge called on Steve Berry, Executive Board Member of the Riverside Arts Foundation, who announced the April 2nd arrival in Riverside of Artrain, a five-car train filled with modem art on loan from the Smithsonian Institute. Mayor Loveridge called on Detective Ron Wright, President of Riverside Police Officers Association, who presented a $1,500 check to DeVonne Armstrong for the Passport to College program at Riverside Community College. Councilmember Clifford was excused at this time. ~ CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for Motion X consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each Second X item. All Ayes PLANNING COMMISSION ZONING CASE CU-017-978 - 9555 INDIANA - DENIED The City Council upheld the action of the Planning Commission in denying the request of Riad Abdel for a conditional use permit to establish a car stereo sales and installation shop on approximately .43 acre developed with a commercial building at 9555 Indiana Avenue situated on the north side of Indiana Avenue approximately 200 feet westerly of Van Buren Boulevard in Zone C-2. ZONING CASE CU-028-978 - 591 LA CADENA The City Council upheld the action of the Planning Commission in approving subject to conditions the request of Santiago Homes, Inc., for a conditional use permit to establish a model home complex for display and sales of manufactured housing on approximately 1.2 acres developed with a residence proposed to be converted to an office at 591 La Cadena Drive, situated on the northwesterly side of La Cadena Drive, southerly of Tolouse Avenue and the Riverside Water Company Upper Canal, in Zone M-1-BP; upheld the Commission's determination that the proposal would not have a 83-246
