Redevel-opment Agency of the <br />City of Riverside. <br /> <br />The Mayor and Councilmembers returned to the Council Chamber at 9:40 a.m. <br /> <br />The Invocation was given by Councilmember Defenbaugh. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />The Minutes of the Meeting of August 12, 1997, were approved as presented. Motion X <br /> Second X <br /> All Ayes <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br />Mayor Loveridge called on Terry Nielsen, Park and Recreation Director, who presented <br />members of the aquatics and swimming programs with awards for Outstanding Rookie <br />Lifeguard (Don Allen Memorial Award), Veteran Lifeguard, Outstanding Assistant <br />Pool Manager and Outstanding Pool Manager. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for <br />consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each <br />item; with Councilmember Clifford requesting his vote be shown as "No" on the item <br />regarding HOPWA, Councilmember Moore requesting his vote be shown as "No" on <br />the item regarding an amicus brief in support of the City of Los Angeles and Motion X <br />Councilmember Pearson requesting a letter be sent to Sally Coons thanking her for the Second X <br />donation of a copier to the La Sierra Police storefront. All Ayes <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />ZONING CASE CU-003-978 - 9295 MAGNOLIA <br />The City Council upheld the Planning Commission's action in approving subject to <br />conditions the request of Frederick J. Kim for a conditional use permit to establish a <br />vocational school in an approximately .44-acre shopping center at 9295 Magnolia <br />Avenue situated on the northerly comer of Magnolia and Everest Avenues, in Zone C- <br />2; upheld the Commission's determination that the proposal would not have an adverse <br />effect on wildlife resources and the impacts of the project are found to be de minimis <br />pursuant to Section 711.4 of the Fish and Game Code; and concurred in the adoption of <br />the Negative Declaration. <br /> <br /> 83-48 <br /> <br /> <br />
