W n i= R L N L R G v 1. 1 <br />Jwl -- RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />WI& Board Memorandum <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: NOVEMBER 20, 2015 <br />ITEM NO: 6 <br />File ID — 15 -3686 — C <br />SUBJECT: NEW WATER SERVICE INSTALLATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS FACILITY <br />RELOCATIONS AT 4920 LA SIERRA AVENUE — AUTHORIZATION FOR WORK <br />ORDER NO. 1523038 FOR $71,175 (LA SIERRA AVENUE AND PIERCE STREET) <br />ISSUE: <br />The item for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure in the amount of <br />$71,175 for City - provided water construction services associated with the development of 4920 La Sierra <br />Avenue, a commercial /retail development in the City of Riverside located at the northwest corner of La <br />Sierra Avenue and Pierce Street. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the capital expenditure of $71,175 for Work Order No. 1523038 <br />which includes City - provided water construction services associated with the development of 4920 La <br />Sierra Avenue, a commercial /retail development in the City of Riverside located at the northwest corner <br />of La Sierra Avenue and Pierce Street. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On January 13, 2015, Riverside City Council approved a design review planning case to develop the <br />property at the northwest corner of La Sierra Avenue and Pierce Street, more commonly known as "Five <br />Points ". The property is being developed with 4 commercial /retail buildings. <br />The Developer hired a Registered Civil Engineer licensed in the State of California to prepare a water <br />plan in conformance with RPU Standard Plans and Specifications. The improvements generally entail <br />relocating two and installing one additional fire hydrant, installing a new fire service, abandoning five <br />existing undersized domestic water services, installing five new domestic water services, and installing <br />three new landscape water services. <br />On September 23, 2015, the Developer paid the required fees and charges as set forth in Water Rules <br />10 and 11 in the amount of $111,442 of which, $71,175 is allocated towards the city - provided water <br />construction services. The balance of the fees and charges are allocated towards plan review services <br />and Backup Facility Capacity Charges. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The total capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1523038 is estimated to be $71,175, which is fully paid <br />by La Sierra and Pierce Developments, LLC. Sufficient funds are available in the Public Utilities' Water <br />System Expansion Account No. 6230000 - 470701. <br />Prepared by: Todd L.
