1 RESOLUTION NO. 19030 <br /> 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 4 OF <br /> 3 RESOLUTION NO. 19009, AS AMENDED, TO ADD TO THE <br /> CLASSIFICATION PLAN THE NEW MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEE <br /> 4 CLASSIFICATION ENTITLED "UTILITIES MARKETING <br /> SERVICES MANAGER" AND THE APPROPRIATE SALARY RANGE <br /> 5 THEREFOR, AND TO DELETE THE MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEE <br /> CLASSIFICATION ENTITLED "UTILITIES RATE/REVENUE <br /> 6 ANALYST", ALL AS OF JANUARY 10, 1997. <br /> 7 WHEREAS the Public Utilities Department recently <br /> 8 completed a comprehensive strategic planning study conducted by <br /> 9 a consulting firm to posture the Department to compete in the <br /> 10 new competitive electric utility industry and to provide the <br /> 11 most efficient and responsive water and electric services; and <br /> 12 WHEREAS three specific recommendations came from the <br /> 13 study; <br /> 14 WHEREAS one of the recommendations was the creation of <br /> 15 a marketing organization, including major account <br /> 16 representatives and a marketing services manager reporting <br /> 17 directing to the Public Utilities Director; and <br /> 18 WHEREAS after discussions with the Public Utilities <br /> 19 Board, it was determined that the first and most vital step in <br /> 20 this process is to hire a marketing services manager who, in <br /> 21 turn, will help develop the organizational structure, assemble <br /> 22 the necessary talent, and develop programs to carry out the <br /> 23 mission of the Marketing Group; <br /> 24 WHEREAS with the assistance of the Human Resources <br /> 25 Department, the Public Utilities Department prepared a job <br /> 26 classification specification for the position of Utilities <br /> 27 Marketing Services Manager; and <br /> <br />Attorney's Office <br />Street <br />CA 92522 <br />782-5567 <br /> F: \WPDATA~RES~96252101.
