RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> M3Board Memorandum <br /> P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: December 3, 2010 <br /> ITEM NO: 5 <br /> SUBJECT: UNDERGROUND STRUCTURE INSTALLATION FOR ORANGECREST <br /> CAPACITOR BANKS - WORK ORDER NO. 100008-02 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 100008-02. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $96,475 for the <br /> Orangecrest Capacitor Bank Project to install underground structures along Dauchy Avenue and Wood <br /> Road. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> This capacitor bank project for Orangecrest will require the placement of various underground utilities <br /> and the installation of pad-mounted equipment to improve power quality for summer 2011. The <br /> proposed project involves the placement of 200 feet of underground cable, the installation of two pad- <br /> mounted capacitor banks, and the installation of one pad-mounted junction cabinet. <br /> The electrical engineering was performed by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU). Electrical work will be <br /> performed by RPU field forces. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The total estimated cost for Work Order 100008-02 is $96,475: <br /> % of Total <br /> Construction-Electric Underground Installation $40,420 42% <br /> Construction-Contract $36,380 38% <br /> Design, Construction Management, Inspection $10,905 11% <br /> Contingency $8,770 9% <br /> Subtotal: $96,475 100% <br /> Funds are budgeted and available for the underground construction portion of this project in the <br /> Distribution Line Extensions Account No. 6130000-470601.
