RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: November 5, 2010 <br /> ITEM NO. 7 <br /> SUBJECT: CIRCUIT 1549 — SUMMER 2011 LOAD RELIEF PROJECT ORANGECREST <br /> SUBSTATION —WORK ORDER NO. 1102624 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 1102624. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve Work Order No. 1102624 for the estimated capital expenditure <br /> of $97,200 to install underground infrastructure for Circuit 1549 in the Orangecrest Substation service <br /> area. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> During summer 2011 peak conditions, Circuit 1549 is expected to experience 112% of design load on the <br /> Circuit getaways at the Orangecrest Substation. Switching required to relieve the increased loading <br /> must be performed using existing load break junctions below ground in V5046 on Mission Grove <br /> Parkway. Upgrading to pad mounted equipment will improve operability for the needed load transfer <br /> switching and provide iateral protection. <br /> The electrical engineering design will be performed by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU). All civil work <br /> including trenching, conduits and other infrastructure work will be performed by a contractor through the <br /> competitive bid process. Installation of cable and terminations will be performed by RPU field forces. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The capital expenditure for the project is estimated to be $97,200.
