October 1, 2010 <br /> DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br /> ITEM NO: 17 <br /> SUBJECT: MONTHLY POWER SUPPLY REPORT—Auaust 2010 <br /> POWER USAGE <br /> Total energy requirements during August 2010 were 221,292 MWh, of which 200,053 MWh were attributed to retail <br /> customer load and the remainder being sales to wholesale parties and system losses. The retail load for August 2010 <br /> was 8.8% lower than the retail energy load in August 2009 (219,350 MWh). The actual peak system demand was 580 <br /> MW, compared to actual peak system demand of 543 MW last year. Sales to wholesale parties, losses and energy <br /> returns represented 10.6% of the total energy requirement as compared to 13.7% for last year. Sales to wholesale <br /> parties accounted for 2,720 MWh,which included 2,695 MWh in sales to the ISO. Energy returns were 13,120 MWh and <br /> 5,399 MWh were attributed to losses (3,58%). Green power supplied approximately 17.3% of our retail energy <br /> requirements. <br /> The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows: <br /> UNIT OPERATION <br /> IPP: IPP units 1 and 2 operated at 94% capacity factor for the month. <br /> PVNGS: Palo Verde units 1, 2 and 3 operated at 96% capacity factor for the month. <br /> SONGS: SONGS unit 2 & 3 operated at 100% capacity factor for the month. <br /> Hoover: 100% of RVSD's entitlement was met for the month. <br /> Springs: Springs units 1, 2, 3 and 4 availability was 99% for the month. <br /> RERC: RERC Units 1 &2 availability was 98% for the month. <br /> Salton Sea: The Salton Sea units operated at 92% capacity factor for the month. <br /> TRANSMISSION: <br /> Pacific DC: The South to North and the North to South lines will not be operational from 10/01/2010 through <br /> 10/17/2010. The South to North will be de-rated thereafter due to repairs to damage caused by the <br /> Station Fire through 1013112010. The North to South line will be fully operational thereafter. <br /> Attached are the charts of daily peaks and the graphical comparison of demand and energy supplied from each resource <br /> for the months of August 2409 and August 2010. <br /> AA <br /> Attachments <br /> cc: Bradley J.
