<br /> SUBJECT: GENERAL ORDER(GO) 165 UNDERGROUND INSPECTIONS IN ZONES 3,4,5,6, 7
<br /> AND 8--WORK ORDER NOS. 1018767, 1016234, 1021752, 1016873, 1011418 AND
<br /> 1015704
<br /> ISSUE:
<br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order Nos. 1018767, 1016234, 1021752, 1016873,
<br /> 1011498 and 1015704.
<br /> RECOMMENDATION:
<br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated operations and maintenance expenditure of
<br /> $600,000; $100,000 per work order, for detailed inspection of underground equipment and structures in
<br /> Zones 3,4,5,6,7 and 8.
<br /> BACKGROUND:
<br /> The California Public Utilities Commission mandated GO 165 as a standard of care for inspection of investor
<br /> owned utility electric systems in 1997. Fallowing this mandate, Riverside Public Utilities adopted this
<br /> standard of care for its own electric system. Underground equipment in Zones 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 was last
<br /> inspected in 2007 and is now due for re-inspection. These zones include 9,356 underground structures and
<br /> underground equipment locations. Zone 3 is Arlington, Magnolia Center and Ramona neighborhoods;Zone 4
<br /> is the Downtown, Hunter Industrial Park, Northside neighborhoods;Zone 5 is the Arlington Heights,Arlington
<br /> South, La Sierra South, Presidential Park neighborhoods;Zone 6 is the Casa Blanca, Eastside, Hawarden
<br /> Hills, University, Victoria neighborhoods; Zone 7 is the Canyon Crest neighborhood; and Zone 8 is the
<br /> Alessandro Heights and Orangecrest neighborhoods.
<br /> FISCAL IMPACT:
<br /> The total project cost is estimated at$600,000. Funds are budgeted and available for this project in Account
<br /> No. 6105000-421000 for$450,000, or 75%, and Account No. 6130000-470603 for $150,000, or 25%.
