TIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: August 20, 2010 <br /> ITEM NO: 10 <br /> SUBJECT: VICTORIA AVENUE OVERHEAD TO UNDERGROUND CONVERSION, <br /> WASHINGTON STREET TO MAUDE STREET-WORK ORDER NO. 070015-03 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 070015-03. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $2,143,717 to convert the <br /> overhead electrical facilities to underground on Victoria Avenue between Washington and Maude <br /> Streets. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> This project consists of relocating the electric facilities from overhead to underground along Victoria <br /> Avenue from Washington Street to Maude Street. This project is estimated to cost $2,143,717 with <br /> funding from Cal Trans ($436,000), Victoria Avenue Historic Restoration Project (VAHRP) ($1,300,000) <br /> and the remaining portion from Riverside Public Utilities ($407,717). The electrical portion of the project <br /> consists of installing 3,960 feet of electric underground distribution system and removing the overhead <br /> lines. The wood poles will continue to be used as the street light standards. <br /> The electrical engineering has been completed by Faithcom Inc. (FCI) consultants and Riverside Public <br /> Utilities (RPU). The environmental work was completed by RBF Consulting.
