The retail load for May 2010 was
9.6% lower than the retail energy load in May 2009 (162,056 MWh). The actual peak system demand was 308 MW,
compared to actual peak system demand of 423 MW last year. Sales to wholesale parties, losses and energy returns
represented 20.5% of the total energy requirement as compared to 27.4% for last year. Sales to wholesale parties
accounted for 3,730 MWh, which included 2,980 MWh in sales to the ISO. Energy returns were 22,222 MWh and 4,131
MWh were attributed to losses (3.32%). Green power supplied approximately 23.3% of our retail energy requirements.
The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows:
UNIT OPERATION
IPP: IPP units 1 and 2 operated at 82% capacity factor for the month.
PVNGS: Palo Verde units 2 and 3 operated at 67% capacity factor for the month. The North to South line is fully operational.
Attached are the charts of daily peaks and the graphical comparison of demand and energy supplied from each resource
for the months of May 2009 and May 2010.
AA
Attachments
cc: Bradley J.
