( t U T I L I t I e 5 Board Memorandum <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: August 6, 2010 <br /> DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br /> ITEM NO: 17 <br /> SUBJECT: MONTHLY POWER SUPPLY REPORT—June 2010 <br /> POWER USAGE <br /> Total energy requirements during June 2010 were 171,550 MWh, of which 158,119 MWh were attributed <br /> to retail customer load and the remainder being sales to wholesale parties and system losses. The retail <br /> load for June 2010 was 7.2% lower than the retail energy load in June 2009 (170,468 MWh). The actual <br /> peak system demand was 384 MW, compared to actual peak system demand of 422 MW last year. <br /> Sales to wholesale parties, losses and energy returns represented 8.5% of the total energy requirement <br /> as compared to 18.2% for last year. Sales to wholesale parties accounted for 4,877 MWh, which <br /> included 4,791 MWh in sales to the ISO. Energy returns were 4,113 MWh and 4,441 MWh were <br /> attributed to losses (3.58%). Green power supplied approximately 22.4% of our retail energy <br /> requirements. <br /> The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows: <br /> UNIT OPERATION <br /> IPP: IPP units 1 and 2 operated at 65% capacity factor for the month. <br /> PVNGS: Palo Verde units 1, 2 and 3 operated at 96% capacity factor for the month. Palo Verde <br /> Unit 1 tripped on 6118/2010. <br /> SONGS: SONGS unit 2 & 3 operated at 100% capacity factor for the month. <br /> Hoover: Hoover operated at 80% availability for the month due to low water elevation in Lake <br /> Mead and various scheduled unit maintenances. <br /> Springs: Springs units 1, 2, 3 and 4 availability was 94%for the month. <br /> RERC: RERC Units 1 & 2 availability was 100% for the month each. <br /> Salton Sea: The Salton Sea units operated at 95% capacity factor for the month. <br /> TRANSMISSION: <br /> Pacific DC: The South to North line is de-rated due to repairs to damage caused by the Station Fire <br /> through 0813112010. The North to South line is fully operational. <br /> Attached are the charts of daily peaks and the graphical comparison of demand and energy supplied <br /> from each resource for the months of June 2009 and June 2010. <br /> AA <br /> Attachments <br /> cc: Bradley J.
