T f s <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: March 19, 2010 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: GO 165 UNDERGROUND INSPECTIONS IN ZONE 1 AND 2—WORK ORDER NOS. <br /> 1019665 AND 1009302 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order Nos. 1019665 and 1009302. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated operations and maintenance expenditure of <br /> $400,000; $200,000 per work order, for detailed inspection of underground equipment and structures in <br /> Zones 1 and 2. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The California Public Utilities Commission mandated G,3neral Order 165 (GO 165) as a standard of care for <br /> inspection of investor owned utility electric systems it 1997. The Riverside Public Utilities adopted this <br /> standard of care for its own electric system. <br /> One of the requirements of GO 165 is to inspect underground equipment every three years. Underground <br /> equipment in Zones 1 and 2 were last inspected in 2007 and are now due for inspection again. Zone 1 is <br /> located in the Airport,Arlanza Grand, La Sierra Acres, La Sierra Hills,Wood Streets neighborhoods.Zone 2 <br /> is located in the La Sierra neighborhood. These zones include 2,215 underground structures and <br /> underground equipment locations. <br /> Inspection and any remedial work will be performed by contract personnel using the Utility's Contractors <br /> Panel. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The total project cost is estimated at$400,000-$300,000 is available in Account No. 6105000-421000 and <br /> $100,000 is available in Account No. 6130000-470603 <br /> Prepared by: Stephen H.
