W A T E R E N <br /> E3W& RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: March 5, 2010 <br /> ITEM NO: 9 <br /> SUBJECT: VAN BUREN AVENUE STREET WIDENING PROJECT AT THE 91 FREEWAY <br /> OVERPASS —WORK ORDER NO. 080015-06 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board approval is requested for Work Order No. 080015-06. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $586,220 (the full amount <br /> will be reimbursed to Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) by the Public Works Department) to relocate <br /> existing overhead facilities over the 91 Freeway along Van Buren Avenue from Andrew Street to Indiana <br /> Avenue. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The City of Riverside Public Works (PW) Department has recently awarded a contract to Skanska USA <br /> Civil Inc. the lowest bidder for this overpass project. The electric portion of the project will include the <br /> installation of approximately 5,117 feet of 12 kV primary cable and 11,523 feet of conduit. All of the <br /> distribution system on the west side of Van Buren Avenue will have to be converted from overhead to <br /> underground and relocated to the east side of the street. <br /> All infrastructure and street light work will be performed by the City of Riverside PW contractor. Electrical <br /> work will be performed by contractors and City forces. <br /> The three lowest bids shown out of 11 total bids received by the PW Department and the respective <br /> electric and street lighting item subtotals are summarized in the table below: <br /> PRIME CONTRACTOR LOCATION BID <br /> 1• Skanska USA Civil Inc.
