g A 7 c A I H- n e. . i I r <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />hiim W& Board Memorandum <br />P1.18E;c11TELITEES <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: February 19, 2010 <br />ITEM NO: 4 <br />SUBJECT: BLOWER UPGRADE — WATER QUALITY CONTROL PLANT <br />WORK ORDER NO. 100003-09 <br />ISSUE: <br />Staff is requesting Board of Public Utilities approval for Work Order No. 100003-09. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $80,000 to upgrade <br />underground facilities for the planned Public Works Blower Upgrade at the Water Quality Control Plant <br />located on Acorn Street, northeasterly of Jurupa Avenue. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Public Works Department ("Applicant") is performing capital improvements at its Water Quality Control <br />Plant located at 5950 Acorn Street. To accommodate these upgrades, additional electrical infrastructure will <br />be required to serve the new loads and enhance the overall reliability of the plant. These service installations <br />include underground 12 kV cable, transformers and switches per normal design standards for industrial loads <br />of this size. <br />Engineering was performed by staff and construction will be performed by either Utility staff or by contractors <br />using the Utility Contractor's Panel. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The total project cost is estimated at $80,000. Funds are budgeted and available for this project in the <br />Distribution Line Extension Account No. 6130000-470601. Electric Rule 11 provides that the extra cost for <br />any additional facilities or accommodations required beyond a standard least cost service as determined by <br />the Utility shall be paid by the Applicant. Accordingly, all such costs will be fully reimbursed by the Public <br />Works Department. <br />Prepared by: Stephen H.
