W A T t R E N E R G Y L { f E <br /> AW& RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: September 16, 2011 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: REPLACEMENT OF DETERIORATED OIL SWITCH OS3-74 AND ASSOCIATED <br /> EQUIPMENT IN V-1735-WORK ORDER NO, 0905437 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 0905437. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of$130,000 for Work Order No. <br /> 0905437 to replace deteriorated oil switch OS3-74. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Vault V-1735 was installed in 1975 on Via Coiba south of Country Club Drive. During a routine inspection it <br /> was discovered that V-1735 has some severe cracks and is structurally deteriorating. V-1735 houses an Oil <br /> Switch and other various electrical equipment that are in need of replacement as well. This equipment will be <br /> replaced above ground as pad mounted equipment. All pad-mounted equipment will be installed with <br /> consideration given to the surrounding esthetics. <br /> Engineering was performed by the Consultants' Panel. All construction work including trenching, conduits, <br /> and other infrastructure work will be performed by contract crews from the Contractors' Panel. All electrical <br /> work will be performed by either contract or Riverside Public Utilities' (RPU) field forces. Once the new <br /> equipment is installed and the old equipment removed,staff will proceed with making repairs to V-1735 under <br /> a separate work order. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The total project cost is estimated at$130,000. The breakdown is as follows: <br /> Percent of Total <br /> Contract Construction— Sub-Structures $45,000 35% <br /> Consultant Design—GO 165 Consultants' Panel $10,500 8% <br /> Contract or City Construction of Cabling & Equipment <br /> $62,000 48% <br /> Contingency, including change order authorization $12,500 10% <br /> Total $130,000 100% <br />
