W A T E R F 6 £ R G Y 4 t r 3 <br /> E3 W& RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> P U B L I C U T I L I T I ES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: August 5, 2011 <br /> ITEM NO: 5 <br /> SUBJECT: REHABILITATION OF DETERIORATED VAULT AND ASSOCIATED CABLE <br /> AND EQUIPMENT-WORK ORDER NO. 1111433 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board approval is requested for Work Order No. 1111433. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of$141,379 for Work Order No. <br /> 1111433 to rebuild one deteriorated vault and associated cable and equipment. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Vault V2426 was installed in 1978 in the entrance road to the Canyon Crest Town Center off Central Avenue. <br /> A recent inspection determined that V2426 is seriously deteriorated and the ceiling and walls are structurally <br /> unstable. The vault contains a 12 kV feeder circuit out of La Colina Substation, and the local distribution <br /> cables searing the Canyon Crest Town Center and some 469 apartments and residences along the southerly <br /> side of Central Avenue westerly of Canyon Crest Drive. <br /> The scope of the work involves the repair of vault V2426 and includes the installation of a 12 kV distribution <br /> be to a second 12 kV circuit from La Colina Substation on the northerly side of the Canyon Crest Town Center <br /> to maintain electric service while V2426 is repaired. The pad-mounted equipment with enclosures in the new <br /> tie line will be installed with consideration given to the surrounding esthetics. <br /> Engineering was performed by the General Order(GO) 165 Engineering Consultants'Panel and construction <br /> will be performed by City and Contractor crews from the Contractors' Panel. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The total project cost is estimated at$141,379.
