W A T E R E#4 E R G Y 4 1 4 E <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: August 5, 2011 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: REPLACEMENT OF DETERIORATED SUBSTRUCTURE - WORK ORDER NO. <br /> 1120275 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 1120275. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of$76,141 for Work Order No. <br /> 1120275 to replace one deteriorated manhole. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Manhole M351 was installed in 1966 in the alley between 12th and 13th Streets. A recent inspection <br /> determined that M351 is seriously deteriorated and the ceiling and walls are structurally unstable. The <br /> manhole contains 12 kV cables and equipment and fiber optic cables. <br /> The scope of work includes replacement of the existing manhole with a precast panel vault in the same <br /> location with the existing 12 kV and fiber optics cables protected in place. Engineering was performed by the <br /> General Order(GO) 165 Consultants' Panel and all construction work including trenching,conduits,and other <br /> infrastructure work will be performed by contract crews from the Contractors' Panel. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The capital expenditure for the project is estimated to be $76,141 and includes all construction, <br /> contingencies, construction management, inspection and design. The breakdown is as follows: <br /> Percent of <br /> Total <br /> Contract Construction— <br /> Sub-Structures $58,038 76.22% <br /> Consultant Engineering Panel— Design $12,300 16.15% <br /> Contingency, including change order authorization $5,803 7.63% <br /> Total $76,141 100% <br /> Funds are budgeted and available for construction of this project in the GO 165 Line Rebuilds Account No. <br /> 6130000-470623. Funds are budgeted and available for the design of the project in the Line Rebuilds <br /> Account No. 6130000-470603. <br />
