W A 7 t R ' E N E R G Y L i P E RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum P U 8 L I C U T I L I T I E 5 BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: July 15, 2011 ITEM NO: 5 SUBJECT= UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC LINE EXTENSION — CALIFORNIA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY RECREATION CENTER—WORK►ORDER NO. 117540 ISSUE: Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 117540. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $65,000 to install an underground electric distribution line extension to serve the California Baptist University Recreation Center located northwesterly of Diana Avenue and Adams Boulevard. BACKGROUND: The project consists of extending existing electric distribution facilities to serve the California Baptist University Recreation Center located at 8432 Magnolia Avenue (Attachment 1). The project includes electric system improvements that would facilitate reliable distribution service for the development. Engineering was performed by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) staff and the electric work will be performed by either RPU staff or by contractors utilizing RPU's Contractor's Panel. FISCAL IMPACT: The total project cost is estimated at $65,000. Funds are budgeted and available for this project in the Distribution Line Extensions Account No. 6130000-470601. Electric Rules 10 and 11 provide that the applicant pay the full cost of facilities to serve new or increased commercial or industrial loads.
