W A i f R E N E R G Y i i 1 E <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PU8LIL U T I L I T I E 5 <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: May 6, 2011 <br /> ITEM NO: 9 <br /> SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION OF THE JURUPA AVENUE 16-INCH DOMESTIC AND 16-INCH <br /> RECYCLED WATER PIPELINE EXTENSION PROJECT(PHASE II)FROM ABOUT 600 <br /> FEET WESTERLY OF VAN BUREN BOULEVARD TO RUTLAND AVENUE <br /> ISSUE: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities consider approval of a capital expenditure in the amount of $623,000 to <br /> construct new 16-inch domestic and 16-inch recycled water pipelines as part of the Jurupa Avenue extension <br /> project (Phase 11) from about 600 feet westerly of Van Buren Boulevard to Rutland Avenue. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the additional capital expenditure of$623,000 for Work Order No. <br /> 0912963, which includes all design, construction, change order contingencies, system connections, <br /> construction management, inspection and geotechnicaI testing for the Jurupa Avenue 16-inch Domestic and <br /> 16-inch Recycled Water Pipeline Extension Project(Phase 11)from 600 feet westerly of Van Buren Boulevard <br /> to Rutland Avenue, <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, the Public Works Department opened bids for the second phase of a street <br /> improvement project on Jurupa Avenue from about 600 feet westerly of Van Buren Boulevard to Rutland <br /> Avenue. The first phase of this project involved extending Jurupa Avenue approximately 600 feet westerly <br /> from Van Buren Boulevard and was completed in early 2010. The second phase of the work will involve <br /> extending Jurupa Avenue westerly to Bradford Street and constructing street improvements along the existing <br /> segment of Jurupa Avenue between Bradford Street and Rutland Avenue. The work will generally entail the <br /> construction of new curb, gutter, sidewalk, medians, asphalt pavement, and various underground utilities. <br /> Furthermore, the scope of the project includes the construction of new recycled water and domestic water <br /> facilities. The recycled wate r fa ci I iti es generally include the construction of'1,750 linear feet of 16-inch ductile <br /> iron pipe, in addition to all other related fittings and appurtenances. The domestic water facilities generally <br /> include the installation of 1,750 linear feet of 16-inch ductile iron pipe, 20 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron <br /> pipe, 60 linear feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe, in addition to all other related fittings and appurtenances. <br /> Construction of the water pipelines will be coordinated with the overall Public Works project. <br />
