RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> J' <br /> xgt �7 _ - Board Memorandum <br /> C <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: April 15, 2011 <br /> ITEM NO: 3 <br /> SUBJECT: GENERAL ORDER 165 UNDERGROUND DETAILED INSPECTIONS IN ZONE 9 - <br /> WORK ORDER NO. 1103433 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No.1103433. <br /> RECOMMENDATION-. <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated operations and maintenance expenditure of$150,000 <br /> and capital expenditure of$50,000 for detailed inspection of underground equipment and structures in Zone <br /> 9. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The California Public Utilities Commission mandated General Order (GO) 165 as a standard of care for <br /> inspection of investor owned utility electric systems in 1997. Following this mandate, Riverside Public Utilities <br /> adopted this standard of care for its own electric system. Underground equipment in Zone 9 was last <br /> inspected in 2008 and is now due for re-inspection. This zone includes 1,258 underground structures and <br /> underground equipment locations. Zone 9 is located in the Canyon Crest, Mission Grove and Sycamore <br /> Canyon/Canyon Springs neighborhoods and will include the inspection of structures and equipment and <br /> reporting the results. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The total estimated cost is$200,000. Funds are budgeted and available for this project in the Account No. <br /> 6105000-4 21000 in the amount of$150,000 and Account No. 6130000-470603 in the amount of$50,000. <br /> Prepared by: Stephen H.
