RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: January 21, 2011 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: RELOCATION OF ELECTRIC FACILITIES - STATE OF CALIFORNIA ROUTE 91 <br /> HOV PROJECT-WORK ORDER NOS. 1022589, 1022591, AND 1022592 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order Nos. 1022589, 1022591, and 1022592. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the following work orders for the relocation of electric facilities <br /> due to the freeway widening along State Route 91: <br /> 1. Work Order No. 1022589, Central Avenue Relocation Project, in the amount of $1,547,846 <br /> associated with Utility Agreement 21205; <br /> 2. Work Order No. 1022591, Arlington Avenue Relocation Project, in the amount of $1,061,490 <br /> associated with Utility Agreement 21979; and <br /> 3. Work Order No. 1022592, Various Relocation Project, in the amount of $4,321,774 associated <br /> with Utility Agreement 21272. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be widening State Route 91 (SR-91) <br /> from Adams Street to the 60/91/215 Interchange to construct two High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes. <br /> This work will involve the securing of additional right-of-way property, replacement of bridges, <br /> reconstruction of on-ramps and off-ramps, construction of retaining walls, modification of City streets, <br /> and all associated utilities relocation work. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2011. This project <br /> is under the direction of, and being financed by the Riverside County Transportation Commission <br /> (RCTC). Caltrans will be serving as the consultant to RCTC for project management and construction <br /> contract administration. RPU staff briefed the Board about RCTC's project at the January 7, 2011 <br /> meeting. <br /> The Board and the City Council have approved corresponding agreements related to these work orders <br /> between RPU and RCTC for the completion of the relocation work that will facilitate the widening of SR- <br /> 91. <br /> Facilities owned by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) will need to be relocated before construction can <br /> begin on the freeway including: <br /> • 69kV Transmission and 33 kV, 12 kV and 4 kV Distribution Lines; <br /> • Street lights, secondary and services; and <br /> • Fiber Optic Lines. <br />
