Work Order No. 1022592, Various Relocation Project, in the amount of $4,321,774 associated
with Utility Agreement 21272.
BACKGROUND:
The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be widening State Route 91 (SR-91)
from Adams Street to the 60/91/215 Interchange to construct two High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes.
This work will involve the securing of additional right-of-way property, replacement of bridges,
reconstruction of on-ramps and off-ramps, construction of retaining walls, modification of City streets,
and all associated utilities relocation work. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2011. This project
is under the direction of, and being financed by the Riverside County Transportation Commission
(RCTC). Caltrans will be serving as the consultant to RCTC for project management and construction
contract administration. RPU staff briefed the Board about RCTC's project at the January 7, 2011
meeting.
The Board and the City Council have approved corresponding agreements related to these work orders
between RPU and RCTC for the completion of the relocation work that will facilitate the widening of SR-
91.
Facilities owned by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) will need to be relocated before construction can
begin on the freeway including:
• 69kV Transmission and 33 kV, 12 kV and 4 kV Distribution Lines;
• Street lights, secondary and services; and
• Fiber Optic Lines.
