RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> P U B L I C U T 1 L 1 1 1 E % <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC U'r1LITIES DATE: January 7, 2011 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: STATE OF CALIFORNIA ROUTE 91 HOV LANES PROJECT, PHASE 1 OF UTILITY <br /> AGR=EMENT 21700, VINE STREET AND 12TH STREET WATER MAIN <br /> RELOCATION PROJECT -WORK ORDER NO. 1106616. <br /> ISSUE: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities consider approval of the reimbursable capital expenditure of $288,000 <br /> for the Vine Street and "I2 h Street Water Main Relocation Project. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the capital expenditure of $288,000 for Phase I of Utility <br /> Agreement No. 21700, Vine Street and 12th Street Water Main Relocation Project, Work Order No. <br /> 1106616. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The State of California Transportation Department (Caltrans) will begin work in late fall 2011 on <br /> improving the 91 Freeway through the City of Riverside from Adams Street to University Ave. Caltrans <br /> has finished the design and will also act as the Construction Administrator through funding by the <br /> Riverside County Transoortation Commission (RCTC) for the estimated three-year project. <br /> Many water facilities owned by the City of Riverside Public Utilities Department will need to be relocated <br /> before construction can begin on the freeway. Phase I of Utility Agreement No. 21700 will accommodate <br /> the relocation of the Public Works Department sewer main and related water main relocations. The work <br /> that will need to be done is listed below: <br /> 1. Replace and relocate 200 linear feet of 12-inch irrigation main with 12-inch Ductile Iron Pipe; and <br /> 2. Replace and relocate 379 linear feet of 4-inch water main with 8-inch Ductile Iron Pipe. <br /> Staff has completed the design for both water mains to be relocated and Water Utility field forces will <br /> perform construction. All costs associated with Phase I will be 100% reimbursed through Utility <br /> Agreement No. 21700. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> Project cost is estimated to be $288,000 for Phase I of Utility Agreement No. 21700, Vine Street and 12"' <br /> Street Water Main Relocation Project, Work Order No. 1106616. All cost will be reimbursed from <br /> Caltrans through funding by RCTC. <br />
