Approve the award of a contract for the Freeway Well Destruction Project,Work Order No. 1103139 <br /> - Bid No. 6895, to the lowest responsive bidder, Palm Springs Pump & Drilling, Inc., of Indio, <br /> California, in the amount of$32,760; and <br /> 2. Approve the capital expenditure in the amount of$57,000 for the Freeway Well Destruction Project, <br /> Work Order No. 1103139. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The State of California Transportation Department(Caltrans)will begin work in late fall 2011 on improving the <br /> 91 Freeway through the City of Riverside from Adams Street to University Avenue. Caltrans has finished the <br /> design and will advertise for construction in late spring 2011. Caltrans will also act as the Construction <br /> Administrator and the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) will provide funding for <br /> construction for the estimated three-year project. <br /> Many water facilities owned by the City of Riverside Public Utilities Department will need to be relocated <br /> before construction can begin on the freeway. Utility Agreement No. 21731 will accommodate the destruction <br /> of a non-operational well co-owned by the City of Riverside Public Utilities and Caltrans for irrigation <br /> purposes. <br /> Bids were received on December 10,2010. The lowest responsive bid was submitted Palm Springs Pump& <br /> Drilling, Inc., of Indio California in the amount of$32,760. Staff has reviewed all provided documentation and <br /> has determined that Palm Springs Pump& Drilling, Inc., has met all of the requirements of the specifications. <br /> The three (3) bids received are summarized as follows: <br /> COMPANY CITY LOCATION TOTAL BID <br /> 1.
