W A T E R E N E R G Y L I F E EaRIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S Board Memorandum BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: December 7, 2012 DIRECTOR'S REPORT ITEM NO: 15 SUBJECT: MONTHLY POWER SUPPLY REPORT—October 2012 POWER USAGE Total load requirements (including losses) during October 2012 were 214,747 MWh and 84,985 MWh of purchases from the CAISO, of which 129,762 MWh were provided by our resources and other purchases. The retail customer load for October 2012 (206,183 MWh) was 7.6% higher than the retail customer load in October 2011 (191,595 MWh). The actual peak system demand was 547 MW, compared to actual peak system demand of 453 MW last year. Energy returns were 4,160 MWh and 4,404 MWh were attributed to losses (4.39%). Green power supplied approximately 9.27% of our retail energy requirements. The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows: UNIT OPERATION PP: I PP units 1 and 2 operated at 86.97% capacity factor for the month. PVNGS: Palo Verde units 1, 2 and 3 operated at 60.33% capacity factor for the month. SONGS: Both SONGS units 2 and 3 operated at 0% capacity factor for the month. Hoover: 79.53% of RVSD's entitlement was met as compared to WAPA's Master Schedule (dated 5114112). Clearwater: Clearwater's availability was 100% for the month. RERC: RERC Station (Units 1,2,3 and 4) availability was 100% for the month. Springs: Springs units 1, 2, 3 and 4 availability was 100% for the month. Salton Sea: The Salton Sea units operated at 54.58% capacity factor for the month. TRANSMISSION: Pacific DC: The South to North transmission line is currently derated to 975 MW (ETR 1213112012) and the North to South transmission line is operational at 2,990 MW.
