W A T E R E N E R G Y L 3 F E <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: October 19, 2012 <br /> ITEM NO: 3 <br /> SUBJECT: GAS SWITCH REPLACEMENT PROJECT BROCKTONIJURUPA - WORK ORDER <br /> NO. 1207691 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 1207891. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $208,837 to replace a gas <br /> switch and associated deteriorating underground electrical equipment at Vault 951 located near Brockton <br /> Avenue and Jurupa Avenue. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Consistent with the recommendations in Riverside Public Utilities' (RPU) Electric System Master Plan for <br /> system reliability, staff has targeted the replacement of deteriorating gas switches located throughout the <br /> system. Vault 951, located at the comer of Brockton Avenue and Jurupa Avenue, contains a gas switch <br /> that requires replacement. This project will include the removal of a subsurface gas switch and the <br /> installation of new pad mounted equipment, conduit and substructures required to reconfigure Vault 951. <br /> The equipment was designed and will be installed with consideration given to the surrounding aesthetics. <br /> Engineering was performed by RPU staff and electrical work will be performed by RPU field forces.
