The work proposed will consist of relocation of the 69 kV wood pole line out of the proposed
Project, acquisition of any necessary easements, and installation of approximately 10,500 linear feet of
Aluminum Conductor Composite Core Cable (ACCC).
As illustrated in the attachment, the existing 69 kV wood pole line crosses diagonally over City property
and in an open field. The line is not within an existing easement area and instead is co-located on City
property. The line will be relocated to the street right-of-way in order to avoid interference with the
improvement of the property for the Project, as the operation of the Park could interfere with proper
maintenance and operation of the 69 kV line.
ACCC cable incorporates advanced technologies resulting in lighter weight cable, increased current
carrying capabilities, and enhanced strength over traditional 69 kV aerial conductors. Consistent with the
Riverside Public Utilities' (RPU) Strategic Plan goal to maximize the use of technology to improve utility
operations, staff has recommended this new cable type be used on this project.
Engineering was performed in collaboration with RPU staff and a consultant from the Consultant's Panel.
Electrical work will be performed by RPU field forces. Civil construction will be performed by contract
crews from the Contractor's Panel.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The capital expenditure for the project is estimated to be $1,010,000 and is as follows:
% of Total
Construction Contract-Civil Work $115,596 12%
Construction RPU-Electric Overhead $730,559 72%
Design, Permits, Construction Management,
Ins ection $72,027 7%
Contingency 10% $911818 9%
Subtotal: $1,010,000 100%
Sufficient funds are available in the Major Transmission Line Project Account No. 6130000-470620.
