The Utility has a set of
long-term goals developed in 2011 that were created for implementation over a ten-year time horizon. In
addition, RPU develops three-year goals in order to meet the longer term goals. Executive and senior
management participated in a strategic planning retreat on September 12, 2012. At that time, the five three-
year goals were reviewed, a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis was
performed, and new strategic objectives were developed. Follow-up sessions are held every six to eight
months to ensure the goals are still appropriate and that objectives are updated so staff can meet these
goals.
In order to monitor RPU's efforts towards meeting these goals,an Eight-Month Strategic Objectives document
is created as a detailed work plan to track efforts and accomplishments over the coming months to meet
these goals. A summary of the efforts to meet the Eight-Month Strategic Objectives is provided to the Board
on a monthly basis.
The next retreat is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22,2013 and Board of Public Utility members are invited
to attend.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this update.
Approved by: David H.
