L3RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> 19& <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: July 20, 2012 <br /> DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br /> ITEM NO: 20 <br /> SUBJECT: MONTHLY POWER SUPPLY REPORT- May 2012 <br /> POWER USAGE <br /> Total load requirements (including losses) during May 2012 were 162,491 MWh and 17,593 MWh of <br /> purchases from the CAISO, of which 144,898 MWh were provided by our resources and other <br /> purchases. The retail customer load for May 2012 (159,189 MWh) was 1.9% higher than the retail <br /> customer load in May 2011 (156,258 MWh). The actual peak system demand was 422 MW, compared <br /> to actual peak system demand of 380 MW last year. Energy returns were 0 MWh and 2,883 MWh were <br /> attributed to losses (4.66%). Green power supplied approximately 8.75% of our retail energy <br /> requirements. <br /> The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows: <br /> UNIT OPERATION <br /> IPP: I P P units 1 and 2 operated at 28.98° capacity factor for the month. <br /> PVNGS: Palo Verde units 1, 2 and 3 operated at 98.01% capacity factor for the month. <br /> SONGS: Bath SONGS units 2 and 3 operated at 0% capacity factor for the month. <br /> Hoover: 100% of RVSD's entitlement was met as compared to WAPA's Master Schedule (dated <br /> 6116111). <br /> Clearwater: Clearwater's availability was 97.18%for the month. <br /> RERC: RERC Station (Units 1,2,3 and 4) availability was 78.44%for the month. <br /> Springs: Springs units 1, 2, 3 and 4 availability was 35.62%for the month. <br /> Salton Sea: The Salton Sea units operated at 38.90% capacity factor for the month. <br /> TRANSMISSION: <br /> Pacific DC: The South to North transmission line is currently derated to 975 MW (ETR 12/3112012) <br /> and the North to South transmission line is operational at 2,990 MW. <br /> Attached are the charts of daily peaks and the graphical comparison of demand and energy supplied <br /> from each resource for the months of May 2011 and May 2012. <br /> AA <br /> Attachments <br /> cc: Scott C.
