cy <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: July 20, 2412 <br /> ITEM NO: 14 <br /> SUBJECT: CASA BLANCA SUBSTATION FEEDER RECONFIGURATION PROJECT - PHASE <br /> 2 (WORK ORDER NO. 1220820) <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for the Casa Blanca Substation Feeder Reconfiguration <br /> Project- Phase 2 (Work Order No. 1225820). <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $570,000 for the Casa <br /> Blanca Substation Reconfiguration Project- Phase 2 (Work Order No. 1225824). <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Casa Blanca Power Project includes the replacement of an old substation with a new one. Work <br /> activities include demolition of the existing substation, land acquisition, conversion of the 4-12kV feeders, <br /> replacement of old cable, installation of major distribution feeders, and modification of the 69kV <br /> transmission system. The work contemplated in this Board action addresses the installation of the major <br /> distribution feeders and some modifications to the 69kV transmission system. <br /> The Casa Blanca Substation Feeder Reconfiguration Project consists of two phases to facilitate <br /> construction, Phase 1 was approved by the Board of Public Utilities on April 6, 2012 and consisted of: <br /> the installation of the underground 12 kV distribution circuits from Casa Blanca Substation; the extension <br /> of new conduits to a riser pale for future circuit reconfiguration along Evans Street between Samuel and <br /> Madison Streets; and the installation of four steel pole foundations. <br /> The work proposed for Phase 2 requires: the installation of four steel poles; major reconfiguration of two <br /> existing 12 kV distribution circuits along Evans Street between Grace and Cary Streets; the replacement <br /> of approximately 8,254 feet of cable; and the replacement of distribution switching devices at potential <br /> circuit tie locations. <br /> The electrical engineering was performed by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) and electrical work will be <br /> performed by RPU field forces. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The capital expenditure for the entire Phase 2 project is estimated to be $570,000, and includes all <br /> construction, contingencies, construction management, inspection and design, as summarized in the <br /> following table: <br /> % of <br /> Total <br /> Construction-Electric Overhead $470,878 83% <br /> Design, permits, Construction Management, <br /> Inspection $47,304 8% <br /> Contingency 10% $51,818 9% <br /> Subtotal: $570,000 100% <br /> Sufficient funds are available in the Major Feeder Account No. 8130400-470633 <br />
