Wni =H t v t Ri,v i i <br />-- RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />Board Memorandum <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: OCTOBER 2, 2015 <br />ITEM NO: 6 <br />File ID — 15 -3127 — C <br />SUBJECT: RDO EQUIPMENT COMPANY'S NEW WATER SERVICE INSTALLATIONS AND <br />MISCELLANEOUS FACILITY RELOCATIONS — AUTHORIZATION FOR WORK <br />ORDER NO. 1522472 FOR $77,124 (MAIN STREET AND IOWA AVENUE) <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure in the amount <br />of $77,124 for City - provided water construction services associated with water service to the new RDO <br />Equipment Company facility, an industrial development in the County of Riverside located at the <br />intersection of Main Street and Iowa Avenue. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the capital expenditure of $77,124 for Work Order No. 1522472 <br />which includes City - provided water construction services associated with the development of the RDO <br />Equipment Company facility, an industrial development in the County of Riverside located at intersection <br />of Main Street and Iowa Avenue. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On May 18, 2015, the County of Riverside Board of Supervisors approved the necessary entitlements for <br />the RDO Equipment Company's (RDO) new commercial building located at the intersection of Main <br />Street and Iowa Avenue within the unincorporated limits of the County of Riverside. Although the <br />development is located outside city limits, the development is located within the boundaries of Riverside <br />Public Utilities (RPU) Water service area. RPU has sufficient capacity and infrastructure to serve this <br />development. <br />RDO hired a registered civil engineer licensed in the State of California to prepare a water plan in <br />conformance with RPU Standard Plans and Specifications for the installation of water service <br />connections by RPU. The improvements generally entail relocating three and installing one additional fire <br />hydrant, relocating and upsizing the existing fire service, relocating the existing domestic water service <br />and installing two landscape water services. <br />On August 13, 2015, RDO paid the required fees and charges as set forth in Water Rules 10 and 11 in <br />the amount of $86,434 of which, $77,124 is allocated towards the City - provided water construction <br />services. The balance of the fees and charges are allocated towards plan reviewing services and <br />Backup Facility Capacity Charges. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The total capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1522472 is estimated to be $77,124, which is fully paid <br />by the project applicant — RDO. Sufficient funds are available in the Public Utilities' Water System <br />Expansion Account No. 6230000 - 470701. <br />
