The project is generally located on Jurupa Avenue between Palm Avenue and Brockton Avenue
and on Brockton Avenue between Jurupa Avenue and Edgewood Place (Attachment 1). The Project will
involve the construction of approximately 2,950 linearfeet of 12-inch Ductile Iron Pipe, 1,050 linear feet of fl-
inch Ductile Iron Pipe, nine fire hydrants,801-inch water services and four 2-inch water services, along with
all associated fittings and appurtenances. This project is part of the Public Utilities Department's (RPU)
ongoing water main replacement program to replace aging and undersized water mains and improve fire
protection.
The existing water distribution pipelines to be replaced are very old and have been prone to extensive leaking
over the past several years. The existing 10-inch pipelines within Jurupa and Brockton Avenues were
originally installed in 1924 and were constructed of cast iron pipe. By almost any measure, these pipelines
have reached the upper limit of their useful service life.
Bids were opened on April 23,2012. The lowest responsive bid was submitted by C.P.Construction Co., Inc.
Staff has reviewed all provided documentation and has determined that C.P. Construction Co., Inc. has met
all of the requirements of the specifications.
