W A T E R E N E R G Y <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUSLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: April 6, 2012 <br /> ITEM NO. 5 <br /> SUBJECT: RELOCATION OF SWITCH GS3-61 AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT IN VAULTV-1139 <br /> TO ABOVE GROUND EQUIPMENT IN PREPARATION OF VAULT V-1139 <br /> REHABILITATION -WORK ORDER NO. 1203814 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities consider approval of Work Order No. 1203814. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of$155,898.91 for Work Order <br /> No. 1203814 to relocate Switch GS3-61 and associated equipment in Vault V1139 to above ground location <br /> in preparation of Vault V-1139 rehabilitation. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Vault V-1139 was installed in 1973 on La Sierra Avenue southerly of Pierce Street.An inspection determined <br /> that Vault V-1139,which houses GS3-61,has some heavy cracks and decomposing in various areas and that <br /> GS3-61 is in need of replacement/relocation, as well as associated underground equipment inside Vault V- <br /> 1139 with a new pad mounted gas switch GS3-650 and associated pad mounted equipment.All pad-mounted <br /> equipment will be installed with consideration given to the surrounding aesthetics. <br /> All construction work including trenching,conduits and other infrastructure work will be performed by contract <br /> crews from the Electric Contractors'Panel.All electrical work will be performed by a contractor and Riverside <br /> Public Utilities(RPU)field forces. All repairs needed to Vault V-1139 will be done on a separate work order at <br /> a later time. <br /> The Project includes: <br /> ■ Installation of one pad mounted switch to replace/relocate Switch GS3-61; <br /> • Installation of one pad mounted junction cabinet to replace load break junctions in Vault V-1139;and <br /> ■ Installation of one pad mounted transformer to replace the transformer in Vault V-1139. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The capital expenditure for the project is estimated to be $155,898.91 which includes all construction, <br /> contingencies, construction management, inspection and design.
