RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: April 6, 2012 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: UNDERGROUND INSTALLATION FOR CIRCUIT 1219 SWITCH REPLACEMENT- <br /> WORK ORDER NO. 1219072 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 1219072. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $271,000 for the Circuit <br /> 1219 Switch Replacement Project, which will replace a failing switch and other failing underground <br /> infrastructure in the Sycamore Canyon area. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> This switch replacement project for the Sycamore Canyon area will require the replacement of various <br /> underground facilities to increase the power reliability in this area. This project was initiated due to a <br /> failed switch which caused two lengthy outages in this area. The proposed project involves the <br /> replacement of one underground transformer, two sets of load break junctions and one underground <br /> switch. The pad-mounted equipment was designed and will be installed with consideration given to the <br /> surrounding aesthetics. <br /> The electrical engineering was performed by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU).
