W A T E R E N E R G Y L I F { <br /> MW& RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: February 17, 2012 <br /> ITEM NO: 7 <br /> SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION OF TENTH, TWELFTH AND CRIDGE STREETS BRIDGE <br /> WATERMAIN CROSSINGS PROJECT UTILITY AGREEMENTS 21701, 21744 AND <br /> 21218, AS PART OF THE STATE ROUTE 91 HOV LANE PROJECT - BID NO. 7047 <br /> — WORK ORDER NO. 1112458, 1112057 AND 112504; REIMBURSEMENT BY <br /> RCTC <br /> ISSUE: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities consider approval of the construction of the Tenth, Twelfth and Cridge <br /> Streets Bridge Watermain Crossings project (Project) as part of the State Route (SR) 91 HOV Lane <br /> Project (Project) (Utility Agreements (UA) 21701, 21700 and 21218), Bid No. 7047, to Trautwein <br /> Construction, Inc. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities: <br /> 1. Authorize the additional capital expenditure in the amount of $1,100,000 for Work Order No. <br /> 1112054, Cridge Street Bridge Crossing, UA 21218; <br /> 2. Award a contract for the construction of the Tenth, Twelfth, and Cridge Streets Bridge <br /> Watermain Crossings Project (UA 21701, 21700 and 21218), Bid No. 7047, to the lowest <br /> responsive bidder, Trautwein Construction, Inc., of Riverside, California, in the amount of <br /> $3,280,040; and <br /> 3. Authorize the issuance of change orders to the purchase order of up to 20% of the original <br /> amount for Bid No. 7047 with such changes reported to the Board of Public Utilities at the <br /> conclusion of the Project. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The State of California Transportation Department (Caltrans) will begin construction in mid-2012 on <br /> improving SR 91 through the City of Riverside from Adams Street to University Ave. Caltrans will also <br /> act as the Construction Administrator and the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) will <br /> provide funding for the utility relocations. <br /> Many water facilities owned by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) will need to be relocated before <br /> construction can begin on the SR 91 widening. The listed UA's with RCTC will accommodate the <br /> following water facility relocations: <br /> • UA 21701 — Tenth Street; Bore and .lack 324 linear feet of 42-inch steel casing and 590 linear <br /> feet of 24-inch CMLSC watermain. <br /> • UA 21700 —Twelfth Street; Bore and .lack 375 linear feet of 54-inch steel casing and 480 linear <br /> feet of 35-inch CMLSC watermain. <br /> • UA 21218 — Cridge Street Bridge; Bore and Jack 285 linear feet of 48: steel casing and 390 <br /> linear feet of 30-inch watermain. <br />
