W A T E R E N E R G Y + 1 1 k RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: February 3, 2012 DIRECTOR'S REPORT ITEM NO: 15 SUBJECT: MONTHLY POWER SUPPLY REPORT—December 2011 POWER USAGE Total load requirements(including losses) during December 2011 were 187,722 MWh and 808 MWh of sales to the CAISO, of which 188,530 MWh were provided by our resources and purchases. The retail customer load for December 2011 (161,932 MWh)was 2.0% higher than the retail customer load in December 2010 (158,810 MWh). The actual peak system demand was 304 MW, compared to actual peak system demand of 241 MW last year. Energy returns were 21,642 MWh and 4,148 MWh were attributed to losses (3.30%). Green power supplied approximately 20.11%of our retail energy requirements. The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows: UNIT OPERATION IPP: IPP units 1 and 2 operated at 82.33% capacity factor for the month. PVNGS: Palo Verde units 1, 2 and 3 operated at 91.56% capacity factor for the month. SONGS: Both SONGS units 2 and 3 operated at 95.18% and 99.92%capacity factor respectively for the month. Hoover: 75.63%of RVSD's monthly entitlement was met. Clearwater: Clearwater's availability was 72.65%for the month. RERC: RERC Station (Units 1,2,3 and 4)availability was 98.24%for the month. Springs: Springs units 1, 2, 3 and 4 availability was 61.09%for the month. Salton Sea: The Salton Sea units operated at 94.82%capacity factor for the month. TRANSMISSION: Pacific DC: The South to North transmission line is currently derated to 975 MW(ETR 10/23/2012)and the North to South transmission line is operational at 2,990 MW.
