W A T E R E N E R G Y L . i . <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> L319& <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: January 4, 2013 <br /> ITEM NO: 2 <br /> SUBJECT: ELECTRICAL CABLE BURN-UP AT SULKY COURT AND TURLOCK DRIVE <br /> WORK ORDER NO. 1310323 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of Work Order No. 1310323. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of$58,000 for Work Order No. <br /> 11310323 to replace a failed High Molecular Weight Poly Ethylene cable on Sulky Court and Turlock Drive by <br /> installing new conduit and cable. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On September 20, 2012, Circuit 1506 tripped and locked out when a High Molecular Weight Poly Ethylene <br /> (HMPE) cable failed between structure 81770 on Sulky Court and structure B1771 on Turlock Drive. <br /> The project includes the installation of 450 feet of conduit and 12 kV cable with related repairs to street <br /> improvements. Engineering has been completed by Riverside Public Utilities(RPU)staff. All construction <br /> work including trenching,conduits,and other infrastructure work will be performed bycontract crews from the <br /> Contractors'panel.All electrical work will be performed by RPU field forces. Directional boring may be used, <br /> if feasible, to reduce costs. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The capital expenditure for the project is estimated at$58,000 and detailed as follows: <br /> Percent of Total <br /> RPU Engineering-Design $5,400.00 9.3% <br /> Contract Construction— Sub-Structures $39,400.00 67.9% <br /> City Construction of Cabling & Equipment $8,000.00 13,8% <br /> Contin enc , including than a order authorization $5,200.00 9.0% <br /> Total $58,000.00 100.0% <br />
