The Project will widen the north side of Palmyrita
Avenue in conjunction with the planned Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) Perris
Valley Railroad Commuter Line upgrade (Attachment 1). The work will include relocating various
underground and overhead electrical facilities.
The relocation of the electrical distribution system as a result of the Project will include the installation of
approximately 2,850 feet of 12 kV underground feeder cable, 2,434 feet of conduit, six street lights and
relocation of 1,040 feet of overhead distribution lines, along with the installation of two pad-mounted
structures. All pad-mounted equipment will be installed with consideration given to the surrounding
aesthetics.
The lowest responsive bid was received from All American Asphalt of Corona. The electric facilities
related portion of the bid, which includes civil construction by the Public Works contractor for electric
conduit and structures, was $72,019 and $37,632 for the street light installation. Engineering was
performed by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) staff and electrical overhead and underground construction
will be performed by RPU field forces. Public Works will request City Council consideration to award the
construction contract to All American Asphalt for the Project in February 2013.
The Public Works Director concurs with the recommendation above.
