With the completion of RERC Units 3 and 4,
recycled water demands have almost doubled. This project will connect the recycled water pipeline
located in Payton Avenue to the RERC facility and provide a second source of recycled water for RERC
operations.
This project should be completed prior to the upcoming summer season to ensure that RERC's operation
will not be interrupted. For this reason, staff will solicit construction bids through the Riverside Public
Utilities' (RPU) Contractor's Panel to complete the work. The project will include the installation of
approximately 1,200 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron onsite piping with its associated fittings and
appurtenances. The existing recycled water supply will be maintained as a backup source and will
augment water needs at the plant.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1311852 is estimated to be $188,000, as summarized in
the following table:
Description Cost Percent of Total
Design $18,000 9.0%
Construction $150,000 75.8%
Construction Contingency $15,000 7.6%
Construction Survey/Testing $5,000 2.5%
Contract Management/inspection $10,000 5.1%
Work Order Total $198,000 100.0%
