The project will entail lowering Riverside Avenue to
create an underpass beneath the existing Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The work will include modifying
the surrounding roadways, as well as relocating various underground and overhead utilities. It is
anticipated that the grade separation project will enhance safety and provide significant improvements to
traffic flows along Riverside Avenue.
The electric work includes the installation of approximately 1,800 linear feet of trenching, 8,000 linear feet
of conduit and cable, two underground vaults, 13 new street lights with 1,000 linear feet of street light
conduit and cable, relocation of existing overhead facilities and five existing street lights.
The City Council is scheduled to consider awarding a construction contract to the lowest responsive
bidder during their regular meeting on November 19, 2013.
